The current version of this installer is mkvinst_b95.exe , 1283 kb, dated 2005-03-01.

Older versions, mkvinst_b92.exe and mkvinst_b94.exe, are also available.

What's This

This is a Matroska Playback Pack for minimalists who hate bloated Codec Packs. The installer is multilingual. It will install only 3 DirectShow filters (kudos to Gabest and his project guliverkli):

• RealMediaSplitter 1.0.1.0
• VSFilter 2.35

Starting from version 0.8, the installer can also install audio filters, as additional options.

What's New in 0.94

• The installer now never flushes the icon cache (because that might change the icon layout on the desktop against the user's will). You have to reboot to change the icons.

What's New in 0.93

• If there is no association to the extension .mkv and/or .mka, the installer will automatically associate them to Media Player Classic (MPC) or to Windows Media Player.
• If MPC is installed and its version is 6.4.8.2 or lower, the installer will automatically disable MPC's internal MatroskaSplitter. This is needed so that MPC can play newer MKV files (muxed with mkvmerge 0.9.5) properly.
• Now you can change the icons for MKV/MKA files as many times as you like. Just put the .ico files you want to use (name them "mkv.ico" and "mka.ico") in \Program Files\LD-Anime\icons, and run TweakMPC.exe.
  (NOTE: Lazy Man's MKV will not change the icon already registered by another application, such as Foobar 2000's icon for MKA.)
• Windows Media Player's OpenFile dialogbox now shows mkv/mka files too.

Note

Older ffdshow can not play XviD 1.0+ properly. If you'd like to use ffdshow, we recommend ffdshow-20040828.exe.

Not important. The filter versions are exactly the same. So basically no need to update if you already have 0.7.

The new feature in 0.7.1: three items added to the Start Menu (under the group name "Lazy Man's MKV"). One is a shortcut to the DirectVobSub Properties Box, to quickly configure VSFilter (this shortcut is not available for Windows 98/me). another one is a shortcut to uninstall this Playback Pack, and the third is a shortcut to a HTML file, MKV Related links.

• MKV/MKAにまったく関連づけがない場合、自動でMPCかWMP関連づけ（初心者向け機能）。 既に関連づけがある場合は何もしない。
• MPC6482以下の場合、自動的に内蔵Splitterを無効にする（初心者向け機能）。
• アイコンが未登録の場合、MKV、MKAに好きなアイコンを登録できる。インストール先のiconsフォルダにmkv.ico、mka.icoを入れて、 スタートメニューのLazy Man's MKV→Tweak...を実行すれば良い。 （foobar2000のMKAのアイコンのように、登録済みのアイコンがある場合は変更しません。）
• WMP等のファイルを開くダイアログで.mkv、.mkaが表示されるようにする。
• MatroskaPropの一部バージョンで起きるアイコンが設定できない不具合を直す。
